Vern remembers Foster's Grocery very well in the late 40's. He lived with his grandparents, Linn and Ethel Sheckler, who traded here faithfully. They lived on the south side of Hutchins Lake and Archie Flanders was their next door neighbor. Archie was always in back at the meat cutting block. Notice the thimble of string in photo above, a lot of loose items were wrapped in paper and tied with string, not tape. |
